Background
It has been well established that Diaspora play vital role in the economic transformation of the
Nation. We have many such examples of people residing outside the country playing crucial role
in ensuring the well being of the people of that country. Governments do value such
contributions and do their utmost to maintain a very close link with the people who have
migrated from that country. In our own neighborhood, governments have taken special policies
and programs to maintain link with the Diaspora and attract them to participate in the economic
life of the country more actively. In Nepal too Second Global NRN conference, participated by
more than 200 NRNs from over 30 countries was organized in October 2005. After two Non
Resident Nepali Conferences, there has been more concerted efforts to mobilize the resources
and expertise of the NRNs for the development of Nepal. There have been efforts to bring
together the NRNs and mobilize their expertise and resources for the socio economic
development of Nepal.
In view to this, Non Resident Nepali International Coordination Council meeting and a Regional
Conference of Nepalis in the Europe is going to be held on 2nd – 4th June2006 in
Bonn,Germany.
This event, the first of its kind to be held in Europe will be participated by Nepali diaspora
residing in Europe and also representatives of Nepali diaspora from around the world to discuss
about the issues pertaining to the Nepalis in Europe. The Nepali Diplomats from Europe,
Businessmen and government officials of Europe Region, Representative of the Chambers of
Commerce, officials National Coordination Councils (Europe region and others) are also
expected to attend the inaugural session. Along with the regional meeting a meeting of NRN
Association International Coordination Council is also being held.
The event will provide a unique opportunity bring the Nepalis from the Europe region and
establish a network amongst them, which in turn, will help bring about positive changes in issues
related to the Nepali Diapora in the Europe region. On the sidelines of the conference, a Cultural
show is scheduled to take place with a performance including famous Nepali artist Ani Choying
Dolma from Kathmandu.
