The Nepali community in Italy celebrated the NRN Day on the auspicious occasion of Vijaya Dashami, in the northern Italian city of Bologna. The program was organized by the "Bologna SeroFero Parawar" and 250 Nepalis and Friends of Nepal coming from Rome, Milan, Turin, Venice, Pisa and other areas participated in this important event. It is currently estimated that there as many as 2,500 Nepalis currently living in Italy. On this occasion, Mr. Bhim Udas, General Secretary of the NRN International Coordination Council, Mr. Pushkar Shah, Nepali world cyclist, Dr. Bhim Bam, Coordinator of NRN Italy, Mr. Dev Kumar Gajurel, President of the Organizing Committee and representatives from Rome, Venice and Milan spoke about the importance of unity among the Nepali community in Italy. Expressing the problems being faced by many Nepalis, they also demand the Nepali government open a consulate in Italy.
The program was preceded by Dashai Tikka, delicious Nepali food, and an excellent Nepali cultural show that included traditional dances, folk and modern Nepali music and songs. "This event is really great, although we are so far from our beloved Nepal, it helps us connect with our people and our culture" said a participant.
